Deputy Representative (P5) – UNFPA, Kampala

About the role

The Deputy Representative supports the UNFPA Representative in leading the design, implementation and management of the UNFPA country programme in Uganda. This senior position ensures day‑to‑day operations of the Country Office and drives partnerships with government, UN agencies, donors and civil society to advance the 2030 Agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily management of the Country Office, including supervision of assigned staff.
• Lead the development and execution of an innovative Country Programme of Cooperation focused on sexual and reproductive health, family planning, maternal health and gender equality.
• Build and maintain strategic alliances with national authorities, UN and bilateral partners, NGOs, academia and the private sector.
• Promote integration of reproductive health and rights into the broader national development agenda.
• Support resource mobilisation, external communications and partnership‑building in a rapidly changing funding landscape.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in UN or international development programmes, preferably in population and reproductive health.
• Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams and manage complex operations.
• Strong understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals and the ICPD Programme of Action.
• Demonstrated commitment to human rights, gender equality and ethical standards.
