Head of Technical and Vocational Skills Development Initiatives

About the role

The Mastercard Foundation is seeking an experienced leader to head its Technical and Vocational Skills Development (TVSD) initiatives across Africa. Reporting to the Director of Secondary Education, the role will shape and manage country‑level, multi‑country, and Pan‑African TVSD programs that support the Young Africa Works strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with heads of Secondary Education units to define and evolve TVSD program strategy.
• Design, implement, and monitor high‑quality TVSD initiatives across multiple African offices.
• Set portfolio goals and work with the Impact Team to track and achieve program objectives.
• Coordinate with Country Program teams on local TVET and skills‑development activities.
• Oversee learning organizations providing technical support on Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) at the continental level.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in technical and vocational education and training, preferably in an international development context.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑country programs and manage cross‑functional teams.
• Strong analytical and strategic planning skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
