About the role

The Department of Architecture and Physical Planning at Makerere University is seeking a dedicated Lecturer to join its academic team. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research and community outreach, supporting the department’s mission to develop skilled professionals in the built environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, conduct examinations and grade student work in architecture and related subjects.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
• Mentor junior academic staff and provide guidance on pedagogical practices.
• Engage in research activities and community outreach initiatives.
• Prepare and submit proposals to secure external funding for departmental projects.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of Department.

Required profile

• PhD in Architecture or a related Built Environment discipline.
• Master’s degree in a built‑environment specialty such as Architecture, Landscape Design, Interior Design, Construction Management or Real Estate Management.
• Honours Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
• Minimum three years of relevant teaching or research experience.
