Sterilization Technician

About the role

The Sterilization Technician is responsible for ensuring that all medical instruments, equipment, and clinical areas are properly cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized in accordance with International Medical Corps protocols and universal hygiene standards. This position supports surgical and clinical teams by maintaining a reliable supply of sterile instruments.

Key responsibilities

• Apply sterilization and infection‑prevention protocols according to medical standards.
• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments and equipment using approved methods.
• Prepare, package, and label sterilized instrument sets for clinical use.
• Maintain sterilization equipment, perform routine checks, and ensure proper functioning.
• Keep the sterilization unit organized and clean.
• Collect and dispose of medical waste safely.
• Report damaged instruments or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
• Support surgical and clinical teams by ensuring the availability of sterile instruments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Formal training as a sterilization technician or a relevant healthcare technical diploma.
• 1–2 years of experience in sterilization or infection‑prevention (preferred).
• Knowledge of medical sterilization procedures and infection‑prevention standards.
• Ability to work in clinical and emergency‑response environments.
• Fluency in English.
