Assistant Engineering Officer (Civil) – Estate & Works

About the role

The Assistant Engineering Officer (Civil) will support the Civil Engineer in managing estate and works projects across the university. This full‑time position involves on‑site inspections, coordination with contractors, and ensuring compliance with design and construction standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to the Civil Engineer on civil works.
• Communicate regularly with contractors and developers to ensure design compliance.
• Conduct on‑site inspections of surface and underground utilities for new projects and redevelopments.
• Prepare inspection reports and witness test results for utilities and geotechnical compaction.
• Assess site‑specific drainage issues and recommend practical solutions.
• Monitor sediment and erosion control plans and report on their effectiveness.
• Assist with reviews, communications, and administration of new developments and subdivisions.
• Answer technical queries and provide engineering information.
• Collect data on civil maintenance needs for colleges, schools, staff housing, and residence halls.
• Maintain mechanical, plumbing, and refrigeration works and carry out remedial civil works.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
