Communications Officer (Kampala, Uganda)

About the role

The Communications Officer will tell the story of CorpsAfrica Uganda, raise its visibility and strengthen engagement with volunteers, partners and the public. The role blends strategic communications, storytelling, digital media, photography, videography and field documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement communications strategies to raise awareness of CorpsAfrica Uganda and engage key audiences.
• Research, write, edit and produce news stories, articles, newsletters, press releases, reports and other materials.
• Manage digital channels including website, newsletter and social media, creating campaigns, graphics, photos and videos.
• Maintain media contacts, support media engagement and ensure brand consistency.
• Document field activities through photography, videography and storytelling, travelling to volunteer communities.
• Support internal communications, event materials and volunteer recruitment outreach.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or related field.
• Minimum three years of professional communications experience, including writing, editing and storytelling.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and work independently and collaboratively.
• Willingness to travel regularly and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Required skills

• Photography and videography for field and event documentation.
• Graphic design using Canva, Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator.
• Social media management and content creation across platforms.
• Website content management and newsletter production.
• Strong written communication and editing skills.
