Construction Specialist

About the role

The Construction Specialist will work on‑site in Kampala, overseeing daily construction activities and ensuring projects meet design, safety and quality standards. This full‑time position involves close collaboration with project managers, architects, engineers and subcontractors to keep work on schedule and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day construction operations and coordinate site activities.
• Review and interpret technical drawings, plans and specifications.
• Conduct regular site inspections, identify issues and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor progress against project schedules and budgets, preparing reports and documentation.
• Liaise with architects, engineers, project managers and subcontractors to ensure smooth workflow.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with local regulations and safety standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of construction processes.

Required profile

• Strong site supervision experience in building or infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of architecture and ability to apply drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in inspection, quality control and safety compliance.
• Ability to manage budgeting tasks, cost estimation and expense tracking.
• Relevant diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field.
• Excellent organizational, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Familiarity with Ugandan construction codes and permitting processes is an advantage.
