Credit Analyst

About the role

The Credit Analyst will join the Credit Analysis Department of Cairo Bank Uganda, reporting to the Manager Credit Analysis. The role focuses on evaluating credit proposals, ensuring they align with the bank’s policies and risk framework, and supporting the growth of a high‑quality credit portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and recommend credit prospects in line with policy, legal frameworks and credit limits.
• Contribute to the expansion and quality of the bank’s credit portfolio to meet business objectives.
• Process and approve various credit products promptly, adhering to approval limits.
• Collaborate closely with Business Managers to nurture relationships and cross‑sell credit solutions.
• Prepare periodic credit reports for the Senior Credit Committee and Board Credit Committee.
• Present credit facility recommendations to approval committees, including appropriate covenants to mitigate risk.
• Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a business‑related discipline.
• 2–3 years of experience in a similar credit analysis role within the banking industry.
• Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CMA or ongoing banking studies are an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
• Good understanding of credit policies, risk assessment and financial statement analysis.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for liaison with business units.
