Deputy Project Coordinator – Policy & Advocacy

About the role

The Deputy Project Coordinator – Policy & Advocacy will provide strategic and operational leadership for the PlayMatters 3.0 initiative, driving policy influence, systems strengthening and stakeholder engagement to institutionalize Learning through Play within Uganda’s education system.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation and periodic review of the policy influence and systems‑strengthening plans, embedding policy priorities in workplans, budgets and performance systems.
• Produce policy recommendations, position papers and technical guidance based on project evidence to support government adoption and scaling of Learning through Play.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date stakeholder map, cultivate high‑level relationships with ministries, district governments and education partners, and represent the project in technical working groups and policy consultations.
• Translate research, MEAL findings and implementation learning into policy briefs, advocacy materials and organise policy events such as dialogues and workshops.
• Coordinate consortium and national partner inputs, align workplans with policy influence priorities and build capacity of partners in policy engagement and advocacy.

Required profile

• MA degree in education, international development, social sciences or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in policy engagement, advocacy, education sector reform or public‑sector systems strengthening.
