Elevator Mechanic – Maintenance & Repair

About the role

Amentum is seeking an Elevator Mechanic to maintain and repair elevator mechanical systems for a US Navy program. The role ensures safe, reliable operation of embassy elevators and supports compliance with certification and licensing requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe workplace and adhere to all EHS and QA standards.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot brakes, motors, switches, and control systems using test lamps, ammeters and voltmeters.
• Disassemble defective units and replace parts such as locks, gears, cables and safety devices.
• Lubricate bearings and other components to reduce friction.
• Install or repair transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units and conduit systems.
• Interpret blueprints, drawings and layouts to locate equipment faults.
• Perform preventative maintenance according to published schedules and provide input for task upgrades.
• Conduct equipment tests with voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, continuity testers, feeler gauges and frequency counters.

Required profile

• Fluent in reading, speaking and understanding English.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining and ability to obtain required visas.
• Pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance.
• Knowledge of US Electrical Codes and accepted trade practices.

Required skills

• Use of test lamps, ammeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, continuity testers, feeler gauges and frequency counters.
• Blueprint and technical drawing interpretation.
• Preventative maintenance planning and execution.
• Repair and replacement of mechanical components (locks, gears, cables, safety devices).
• Installation and servicing of electrical equipment (transformers, switchboards, circuit breakers, motors).
• Familiarity with US Electrical Codes.
