About the role
The Estate Management Unit at Makerere University is looking for a qualified Quantity Surveyor to lead cost estimation, monitoring and procurement activities for its infrastructure projects.
Key responsibilities
- Generate Bills of Quantities and specifications for projects.
- Monitor ongoing construction and maintenance projects.
- Evaluate project and maintenance costs.
- Endorse certificates of works prior to payment processing.
- Assist in defining client requirements and conduct feasibility studies.
- Perform risk, value management and cost control.
- Provide advice on procurement strategy.
- Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks.
- Prepare and analyse costs for tenders.
Required profile
- Honours BSc in Quantity Surveying or BSc in Building Economics.
- Professional Member of the Institution of Surveyors of Uganda.
- Registered Quantity Surveyor with a valid practising licence from the Surveyors Registration Board of Uganda.
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant work experience.
Required skills
- Good communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with relevant computer packages.
- Teamwork and team‑building abilities.
- High integrity.
