Graduate Trainee – Accounts & Finance

About the role

Majibu Africa is looking for a motivated recent graduate to join its finance team as a Graduate Trainee in Accounts & Finance. You will work on daily mobile‑money payment processing, ensuring accurate client matching and supporting the reconciliation workflow.

Key responsibilities

• Post incoming mobile‑money payments (MTN, Airtel) in the accounting system and CRM daily.
• Match payments to the correct client, contract, and invoice.
• Investigate unmatched payments, identify the payer, link phone numbers to client records, and resolve errors.
• Maintain client payment details to improve automatic matching.
• Cross‑check mobile‑money statements against system records, spotting duplicates, gaps, and incorrect amounts.
• Prepare Excel reconciliations and summaries for the team.
• Flag any discrepancies and ensure they are investigated.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or final‑year undergraduate in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Understanding of basic accounting principles such as debits, credits, invoicing, pre‑payments and reconciliation.
• Strong numerical and logical reasoning with high attention to detail.
• Honesty, integrity and reliability when handling confidential financial information.

Required skills

• Proficient use of Microsoft Excel (sorting, filtering, SUMIF, VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
