Human Resource Manager

About the role

The Human Resource Manager will lead the HR function for MARKH Investments, overseeing recruitment, policy development, employee relations and payroll for a fast‑growing retail, fashion and FMCG business in Kampala.

Key responsibilities

• Identify staffing gaps with department heads and implement annual recruitment plans.
• Develop, review and enforce HR policies, ensuring compliance with Ugandan labour law.
• Maintain confidential employee records, contracts and an effective HR information system.
• Coordinate the full performance‑management cycle, including appraisals and performance reporting.
• Design and deliver annual training and development programmes.
• Promote positive employee relations, manage grievances and drive wellbeing initiatives.
• Oversee monthly payroll inputs, NSSF remittances and resolve payroll queries.
• Manage employee exits, transfers and ensure proper separation procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Psychology, Business Administration or a related field.
• More than 10 years of progressive HR management experience.
• Strong knowledge of Ugandan labour legislation and HR best practices.
