ICT Lab Technician

About the role

We are seeking an ICT Lab Technician to ensure the smooth operation of the ICT laboratory serving a 1,200‑student secondary school in Ntinda. The position is a twelve‑month renewable contract, and the successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for all technology‑related issues in the lab, supporting teachers, students, and extracurricular programs.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot 40 desktop workstations, ensuring hardware and software are up‑to‑date.
• Manage the network switch and shared printer, handling connectivity and print‑service issues.
• Provide first‑line technical support to teachers during scheduled ICT lessons, resolving problems quickly to minimise classroom disruption.
• Run the after‑school Coding Club twice per week, assisting students with programming activities and hardware setup.
• Lead end‑of‑term imaging and patch cycles, creating and deploying standardized system images and applying security updates.
• Document incidents, maintenance activities, and inventory of equipment for reporting purposes.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Minimum two years of hands‑on lab support experience in a school or comparable setting.
• Working knowledge of Windows imaging, basic networking concepts and Google Workspace administration.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non‑technical staff and students.
• Familiarity with Cambridge ICT or CBSE Computer Applications syllabus is advantageous.
