Java Open Source Contributor – Remote

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Java Open Source Contributor to join our remote team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will help enhance production‑quality code, perform thorough reviews, and create clear documentation for open‑source projects that support our customer’s solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Write, review, and document production‑grade code for open‑source repositories relevant to the project.
• Design, implement, and optimise complex algorithms and system components using one or more of the following languages: C++, Python, Java, Go, TypeScript or Rust.
• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks and other technical challenges in existing codebases.
• Collaborate with other contributors and stakeholders to ensure deliverables align with project goals and best practices.
• Maintain and improve technical documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding.
• Participate in code discussions, providing constructive feedback to raise overall code quality.

Required profile

• Previous experience working on large‑scale, distributed codebases.
• Familiarity with rigorous code‑review processes and software best‑practice development.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
