Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator – Kampala, Uganda

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council is seeking a senior Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Coordinator to strengthen its M&E systems in Kampala, Uganda. You will work closely with program teams to ensure data-driven decision‑making and contribute to organizational learning.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance the overall M&E system, reviewing progress against benchmarks and coordinating regular updates.
• Provide technical support to program teams in developing core M&E tools such as matrices, indicator reference protocols, and performance tracking tables.
• Assist program staff in planning and executing M&E activities, including costed concept notes, data‑collection tool design, digital data collection, and data management.
• Compile quantitative output reports, ensure timely monthly reporting into GORS, and lead the preparation of analytical reports for donors and internal use.
• Facilitate capacity‑building initiatives and technical trainings for program and M&E staff, and provide field support through regular visits.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience (minimum 5 years) in monitoring and evaluation within the humanitarian or development sector.
• Strong knowledge of M&E methodologies, theory of change development, log‑frame design, and budgeting for M&E.
• Proven ability to supervise and mentor M&E staff and to collaborate with programme teams on staffing and resourcing needs.

• Ability to conduct data quality checks and produce high‑quality analytical reports.
• Experience delivering capacity‑building and technical training on M&E concepts.
