Postdoctoral Fellow – Silviculture

About the role

The Postdoctoral Fellow will lead high‑impact silviculture research, providing scientific guidance and collaborating with CIFOR teams to advance forest governance and natural‑resource management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide scientific guidance ensuring research concepts and methods meet the highest scientific standards.
• Collaborate with theme coordinators and CIFOR leaders to define and implement research activities in emerging interest areas.
• Write, supervise and publish scientific communications and reports.
• Lead capacity‑building initiatives and mentor junior scientists, students and staff.
• Represent CIFOR in national, regional and global forums on forest governance.
• Develop and maintain constructive partnerships with stakeholders and pursue additional research funding.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant discipline with a strong record of peer‑reviewed publications.
• Experience in collaborative natural‑resource management, social‑science research, and working with multidisciplinary teams in developing countries.
• Demonstrated ability to develop budgets, manage project finances and secure donor funding through successful proposals.
• Fluent spoken and written English; additional international language(s) an advantage.
• Proven experience in resource mobilization, fundraising and proposal development.
