Project Director – Child Development & Protection

About the role

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is seeking a senior Project Director to lead a multi‑county child development, care and protection initiative in Uganda. The role will oversee the design, implementation and monitoring of activities that strengthen child protection systems, support families and advance early childhood health and development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and day‑to‑day management of the project, ensuring alignment with CRS strategic priorities.
• Maintain donor compliance, manage sub‑awards and oversee financial reporting.
• Coordinate with consortium partners, Ugandan ministries (Health, Gender, Labour and Social Development) and local NGOs.
• Develop and implement security protocols, mitigating risks for staff and beneficiaries.
• Monitor project performance, produce regular progress reports and adapt strategies as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 8‑10 years of experience managing large‑scale humanitarian or development programmes, preferably in child protection or early childhood development.
• Proven track record of donor compliance, sub‑award management and partnership coordination.
• Strong understanding of Ugandan government structures and the humanitarian sector.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
