Project Lead

About the role

As the Project Lead for Jaza’s new market expansion in Uganda, you will act as the “CEO of the launch,” overseeing the entry from 10 to 120 hubs. You will navigate regulatory environments, build partnerships, and coordinate cross‑functional teams to deliver a successful rollout.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute market entry strategy, including research on labor laws, competitors and infrastructure.
• Lead cross‑functional roadmap for site validation, hub construction, technical operations, hyper‑care support and commercial execution.
• Build, line‑manage and develop local teams, ensuring health & safety compliance.
• Manage stakeholder relationships with government agencies, regulators and local partners.
• Oversee operational setup, office space sourcing and local recruitment.
• Define, track and own success metrics (OKRs) for the first 90 days, such as cost‑per‑acquisition, active customers, revenue and efficiency.
• Drive pilot performance, gather insights, iterate strategy and make go/no‑go decisions at each phase.
• Prepare and present regular performance updates to senior leadership.

Required profile

• 5+ years experience in strategy, operations or project management, preferably in a high‑growth startup or consulting environment.
• 3 years experience in the renewable energy industry is desired.
• Strong ability to lead teams, manage complex projects and communicate with senior stakeholders.
• Demonstrated “hustle” mindset and ability to work in fast‑moving environments.
