Senior Accountant – Freight Forwarding (Uganda)

About the role

DP World is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its freight forwarding team in Uganda. The role involves recording and classifying financial data, reconciling accounts, managing costs, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present financial records, including general ledger accounts and monthly management accounts.
• Conduct detailed financial analysis of actuals versus forecast and budget.
• Process recurring and non‑recurring journal entries and perform month‑end close activities.
• Review gross profit, generate exception reports and liaise with operational teams on queries.
• Collaborate with operational teams to prepare budgets and forecasts.
• Prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations, resolve variances and review inter‑company transactions.
• Prepare payment proposals, follow up on outstanding debtors and produce weekly cash‑flow forecasts.
• Upload bank statements, perform bank reconciliations and maintain the fixed‑asset register.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and tax reporting (VAT, income tax, withholding tax).
• Prepare Hyperion reporting packs and support internal and external audit processes.
• Execute all in‑country statutory remittances.

Required profile

• BCom Finance degree.
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience in a clearing and forwarding environment.
