Senior Database Administrator

About the role

DFCU Bank is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of its critical database environments. The role involves ensuring high availability, performance, and security of databases supporting the bank’s financial operations.

Key responsibilities

• Execute procedures for database operations, maintenance, security, archiving and recovery.
• Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• Manage storage, backup subsystems, and high‑availability configurations.
• Lead database change management and coordinate with application teams.
• Mentor junior staff and promote knowledge sharing across the IT department.

Required profile

• University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT or Computer Engineering.
• 5+ years of database administration experience, preferably in a financial institution.
• Strong understanding of banking systems, operations and processes.
• Proven ability to assess organizational needs and deliver effective database solutions.

Required skills

• Oracle Database administration and licensing knowledge.
• Microsoft SQL Server administration, including replication, load balancing and high availability.
• MySQL or other open‑source RDBMS experience.
• Scripting languages: PERL, Python, Shell.
• Operating systems: Microsoft Server, Solaris, Linux.
• ITIL Foundation certification.
• SQL proficiency, data warehousing, reporting and integration services.
