Advocacy Associate – Survivor Leadership

About the role

The Advocacy Associate will strengthen survivor leadership across IJM’s global network by coordinating strategic initiatives, advising cross‑regional teams, and delivering trauma‑informed resources. Based in Tororo, this role ensures survivor voices are integrated into programming and public engagement, aligning with IJM’s mission to protect vulnerable people from violence.

Key responsibilities

• Examine and reconcile regional survivor group strategies with the Global Survivor Network framework.
• Plan and deliver Advocacy & Power of Story workshops with trauma‑informed, cross‑cultural relevance.
• Develop and refine survivor leadership tools and KPIs, incorporating feedback from global teams.
• Identify professional development opportunities for survivor leaders and support their sustained engagement.
• Compare, determine, and share best practices across IJM teams to elevate survivor leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, community psychology or a related field.
• Minimum four (4) years of experience working with survivors of sexual violence or other traumatic experiences.
• Experience with child and women survivors of violence is preferred.
• Proven ability to coordinate complex projects across global teams.
• Strong prioritization, organizational, and cross‑cultural communication skills.
