About the role
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in Uganda seeks motivated Agricultural Assistants to support the Food Systems and Economic Self‑Reliance Project across several districts. The role focuses on community mobilisation, climate‑smart agriculture (CSA) training, and environmental restoration.
Key responsibilities
- Mobilise and sensitize refugee and host communities on sustainable, regenerative CSA practices.
- Identify, select, and profile participants for project activities, maintaining an up‑to‑date database.
- Organise and deliver technical training on enterprise selection, CSA practices, and the Resilience Design Approach.
- Establish block/cluster gardens and permagardens with clear production and market plans.
- Conduct farmer household visits and act as the primary liaison between the project and community stakeholders.
- Facilitate community meetings, workshops, and awareness campaigns on environmental initiatives such as tree planting and soil conservation.
- Develop and deliver educational materials on ecosystem restoration, recycling, composting, and water conservation.
- Support the distribution of project inputs, including cash transfers and agricultural inputs.
Required profile
- Highly qualified and motivated individuals with a strong interest in agriculture and community development.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community groups and project staff.
- Willingness to travel within the project districts and engage in field activities.
