Agricultural Officer

About the role

The Agricultural Officer will support the technical implementation of DRC Uganda’s Food Systems and Economic Self‑Reliance project across several districts. The role focuses on community mobilisation, climate‑smart agriculture training and supporting farmer groups to improve food and nutrition security.

Key responsibilities

• Mobilise communities and identify target participants for project activities in collaboration with the Climate and Food Security Team Leader.
• Conduct technical training on enterprise selection, climate‑smart agriculture practices and Good Agricultural Practices.
• Establish block/cluster gardens and perma‑gardens using the Resilience Design Approach with clear production and market plans.
• Facilitate community meetings, workshops and awareness campaigns to promote sustainable agricultural practices.
• Provide routine technical support to Agriculture Assistants and submit periodic activity reports.
• Develop and deliver educational materials on ecosystem restoration, recycling, composting and water conservation.
• Assist in the distribution of project inputs such as cash transfers and agro‑business materials.
• Support the planning and execution of CSA activities, including integrated pest management and soil‑water conservation.

Required profile

• Highly motivated individual with experience in community mobilisation and agricultural projects.
• Ability to work collaboratively with farmer groups, project committees and local institutions.
• Willingness to travel across the districts of Obongi, Moyo, Yumbe, Koboko, Madi Okollo and Terego.
