Assistant Lecturer – Foundations & Curriculum Studies

About the role

The Department of Foundations & Curriculum Studies at Makerere University seeks an enthusiastic Assistant Lecturer to support teaching, research, and community outreach. This full‑time position offers the opportunity to contribute to the academic development of students while advancing the department’s research agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Teach, examine and grade undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Supervise student research projects and theses.
• Mentor junior academic staff.
• Conduct research and engage in community outreach activities.
• Write proposals to attract external funding for departmental initiatives.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department.

Required profile

• Master of Education in Education Foundations (specialising in History of Education).
• At least an upper second class Bachelor of Education, or a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science with Education, or any bachelor’s degree combined with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education.
