About the role
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Makerere University is seeking an Assistant Lecturer to join its academic team. This full‑time position involves teaching, supervising research, and contributing to departmental development.
Key responsibilities
- Teach, examine and grade undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Supervise student research projects and theses.
- Mentor junior academic staff.
- Conduct research and engage in community outreach activities.
- Write proposals to attract funding for the department.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, Industrial Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Robotics, Energy Engineering, Technology Innovation and Industrial Development, Automotive Engineering or related field.
- Upper second class Bachelor’s degree in one of the above disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience in research and academic publication.
Required skills
- Strong subject‑matter expertise in mechanical engineering or related engineering disciplines.
