AVID Teacher for Grades 7-8 (2026-27)

About the role

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. The role supports students in developing competencies and skills needed to function successfully in society.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that meet district curriculum requirements and accommodate diverse learning styles.
• Assess student learning through formal and informal testing and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Collaborate with special‑education teachers to modify curricula and support IEP goals.
• Supervise teacher aides, volunteers and extracurricular activities as assigned.
• Utilize technology to enhance the teaching‑learning process.
• Maintain classroom environment conducive to learning and manage student behavior in line with the Student Code of Conduct.
• Communicate regularly with parents, principals and staff through conferences and updates.
• Participate in staff development and serve on school committees as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements for the subject and grade level.
• Previous AVID experience preferred.
• Knowledge of curriculum, instruction and ability to manage student behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
