Backend Developer – Java & Spring Boot

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Backend Developer to design, build, maintain, and modernize core enterprise backend systems and microservices in Uganda on a full‑time basis.

Key responsibilities

• Build scalable RESTful services with Java 8+ and Spring Boot.
• Maintain and refactor Java EE / Jakarta EE applications on JBoss or Wildfly.
• Optimize SQL, stored procedures, and schemas across Oracle, MSSQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Use Redis to improve performance and response times.
• Deploy using Docker, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and Git workflows.
• Provide production support, debug incidents quickly, and perform root‑cause analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in backend or software development for enterprise systems.
• Hands‑on experience with Java 8+ and Spring Boot; Java EE / Jakarta EE is a plus.
• Strong SQL skills with Oracle, MSSQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Git and basic Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud‑platform usage.
• Analytical debugging, good communication, independence, and teamwork.
