Branch Manager – Credit Card Portfolio

About the role

Absa is seeking a Branch Manager to lead and grow its Credit Card portfolio. The role is responsible for driving acquisition, activation, spend, profitability and customer engagement while ensuring compliance with regulatory, policy and card‑scheme requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategies to increase credit card acquisition, usage and overall portfolio profitability.
• Achieve revenue targets through optimisation of interchange income, interest earnings, annual fees and other card‑related streams.
• Lead customer acquisition, activation and usage campaigns, and monitor portfolio performance metrics such as return on assets.
• Oversee product lifecycle management, including launches, enhancements, pricing reviews and portfolio refresh initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and direct sales to accelerate sales, activation and utilisation.
• Champion a customer‑centric journey across acquisition, onboarding, activation, usage and retention.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a credit‑card or retail‑banking portfolio.
• Strong analytical ability to monitor profitability, risk and performance indicators.
• Demonstrated leadership in driving commercial execution and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Ability to develop strategic initiatives aligned with broader retail‑banking objectives.
