Business Development Specialist (Logistics)

About the role

DHL Global Forwarding is seeking a Business Development Specialist to drive growth in Uganda. You will work closely with local and regional teams to identify new opportunities, build relationships with prospects, and expand our market presence across air, ocean and road freight services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute business development plans aligned with revenue targets and market share goals.
• Conduct market and feasibility studies to assess potential and define target customer groups.
• Prospect new business by researching markets, initiating contact with decision‑makers, and presenting tailored solutions.
• Prepare proposals, lead negotiations and close deals with key accounts.
• Maintain and grow relationships with existing and potential customers, coordinating with inside sales and product management.
• Collaborate with local, district and regional management to align customer requests with service offerings.
• Provide regular data on competitor activity and market trends to support strategic decisions.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least 2 years of experience in business development, sales or account management, preferably in logistics or freight forwarding.
• Proven ability to conduct market research, develop proposals and close sales cycles.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with a customer‑focused mindset.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate cross‑functional teams.
