About the role
SunCulture is looking for a Carbon Project Developer to lead the implementation of its carbon program in Uganda. This country‑level coordination role works closely with the carbon leadership team in Kenya to ensure successful project execution, stakeholder engagement, and verification. You will be responsible for managing field activities, workshops, and grievance mechanisms while supporting carbon accounting and emerging methodologies.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate carbon project development activities across Uganda.
- Lead logistics for data collection, monitoring, and grievance redress field operations.
- Support transition of AMS I.B projects from Gold Standard to PACM methodologies and advise on environmental regulations.
- Organise in‑country workshops, stakeholder consultations, and carbon‑related events.
- Collaborate with SunCulture Kenya on project validation, verification, and monitoring.
- Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Assist with carbon accounting and implementation of emerging carbon methodologies.
- Facilitate Local Stakeholder Consultations and community engagement activities.
- Manage the country‑level carbon grievance redress mechanism.
- Coordinate day‑to‑day carbon operations in Uganda with the Carbon Operations Lead.
- Develop monitoring systems and prepare regular progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in carbon committee meetings and cross‑functional project coordination sessions.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in project management, preferably in carbon projects, climate finance, sustainability, or environmental programs.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multi‑stakeholder initiatives and manage field logistics.
- Strong understanding of carbon standards such as Gold Standard and PACM methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and reporting.
