Chef de Partie – Pastry/Bakery

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Chef de Partie specializing in pastry and bakery to join our food and beverage team at Marriott in Kampala. The role involves creating high-quality decorative food displays, ensuring proper portioning, and supporting the kitchen’s daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and kitchen workers, monitoring food preparation quantities and presentation standards.
• Prepare special meals, substitute items, and decorative pastry displays while maintaining food safety logs.
• Monitor stock levels of kitchen supplies, order items as needed, and ensure proper garnish and portion control.
• Communicate menu specials and out-of-stock items to service staff and address guest service needs.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, and performance coaching of kitchen staff.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree related to culinary arts.
• 4–6 years of pastry/bakery experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Ability to work standing for extended periods, lift up to 25 lb, and perform physical tasks required in a kitchen environment.
• No specific license or certification required.
