Clearing Manager

About the role

The Clearing Manager oversees the end‑to‑end processing of clearing items and ensures compliance with regulatory and internal standards for KCB Group in Kampala.

Key responsibilities

• Timely and accurate processing of inward clearing items such as cheques, EFTs, direct debits and unpaid items to customer accounts.
• Monitoring RTGS transactions on hold and unauthorized transactions to ensure timely resolution of exceptions.
• Reconciling clearing and RTGS accounts to close outstanding items in suspense accounts.
• Authorising and remitting clearing transactions in Sybrin and KACH systems to avoid regulatory penalties.
• Processing transactions in T24, mobile portals, Direct Credit Engine and Sopra systems to mitigate fraud and loss.
• Preparing and submitting internal and regulatory reports (NPSM, telecom returns, payment statistics, RCSA, contingency returns) as per schedule.
• Ensuring compliance with URA third‑party agency notices and instant card printing controls.
• Monitoring BOU running balances to confirm sufficient funding before approving SWIFT and RTGS payments.
• Driving a high‑performance culture through coaching, mentoring and performance assessments.
• Developing and maintaining up‑to‑date procedures and reporting risks associated with clearing operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (required).
• Master’s degree (preferred).

Required skills

• Experience with Sybrin clearing system.
• Proficiency in KACH system.
• Knowledge of T24 core banking platform.
• Familiarity with Sopra payment processing.
• Understanding of RTGS and SWIFT payment networks.
