Communications Associate – Kampala

About the role

The Communications Associate will lead the creation, management and distribution of strategic content that amplifies International Justice Mission’s key messages and stories. Based in Kampala, the role works closely with program teams, media partners and external stakeholders to support advocacy, engagement and brand consistency across digital and traditional channels.

Key responsibilities

• Review and align content strategies with program goals, audience needs and brand standards on all media platforms.
• Manage the digital asset management system, ensuring assets are properly tagged, categorized, accessible and maintained for global use.
• Gather and develop high‑impact success stories, coordinating interviews, conducting photo and video shoots, editing multimedia, and producing reels and other digital storytelling assets.
• Identify and disseminate compelling survivor stories and media materials to support advocacy campaigns and engage diverse local and global audiences.
• Monitor media engagement plans against emerging trends and stakeholder needs, adjusting tactics to maintain relevance.
• Advise and train internal teams and partners on communications best practices, system usage and strategic messaging.

Required profile

• Proven ability to design and implement strategic communication plans that align with organizational objectives.
• Strong interpersonal skills with experience building relationships with internal teams, media professionals and external partners.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, capable of presenting complex information clearly.
