Communications Officer – TRAIN Pillar (Uganda)

About the role

The British Council is seeking a Communications Officer to lead the planning, coordination, production and quality assurance of high‑impact communications for the TRAIN Pillar of the Leaders in Teaching (LiT) programme in Uganda. You will translate complex programme activities and technical evidence into clear, compelling messages for teachers, school leaders, government stakeholders, partners and internal audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a communications and visibility plan aligned with programme strategy and donor requirements.
• Maintain a communications calendar linked to programme milestones and reporting cycles.
• Collect inputs from programme teams, partners and field staff to produce messaging briefs and materials.
• Produce and quality‑assure success stories, case studies, newsletters, digital content and donor‑facing materials.
• Ensure all outputs are audience‑focused, accurate, brand‑compliant and delivered on time.

Required profile

• Legal right to work in Uganda at the time of application.
• Experience in communications planning, content production and storytelling for education or development programmes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with programme teams, partners, schools and field staff.
