Construction Foreman – Site Leader

About the role

The Construction Foreman leads the on‑site labour crew, ensuring that daily construction activities are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with project specifications. Reporting directly to the Site Engineer, the foreman coordinates trades, manages resources and resolves on‑site challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate a multidisciplinary team of subcontractors, masons, carpenters, steel fixers, plumbers, electricians, machine operators and general labourers.
• Assign daily tasks according to the Site Engineer’s programme and monitor quality, output and schedule adherence.
• Enforce safety protocols: 100 % PPE compliance, weekly toolbox talks and permit‑to‑work systems.
• Manage site logistics, material handling, storage and sequencing to minimise waste and avoid delays.
• Identify and report material shortages, equipment breakdowns or safety hazards promptly.
• Maintain daily attendance records, overtime tracking and oversee proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Coordinate trade sequencing (e.g., electrical conduits before concrete casting) to prevent bottlenecks.
• Report daily progress, manpower and material usage to the Site Engineer.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by supervisors or management.

Required profile

• Diploma or Certificate in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related trade.
• Minimum 5 years of field experience in civil construction as a foreman or leadman.
• Ability to read construction drawings and conduct basic surveying.
• Strong knowledge of local construction methods, structural finishes and safety standards.
• Leadership, conflict‑resolution and team‑motivation abilities.
