Cook – Food Preparation & Kitchen Operations

About the role

The Cook will join a busy kitchen in Kampala, preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and quality standards. This position offers an opportunity to develop culinary techniques while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, washing, and storing fresh produce.
• Cook menu items using grilling, sautéing, roasting, baking, and frying methods.
• Monitor food quality throughout the cooking process and ensure consistent presentation.
• Follow strict food safety and sanitation procedures, cleaning work stations, equipment, and utensils regularly.
• Set up and break down kitchen stations, reporting any equipment issues to the supervisor.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and provide courteous service to customers.

Required profile

• Basic proficiency in reading, writing, and interpreting English.
• Certificate in Culinary Arts.
• 1–2 years of experience in a similar kitchen role.
• Highly organized with strong multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
