Coordination and Normative Consultant

About the role

The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in Uganda is seeking a Coordination and Normative Consultant to provide technical assistance, strategic advisory support, and coordination expertise. The consultant will work closely with the Country Representative and Deputy Representative to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment across the UN system and the broader development landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and strategic support for UN Women’s gender coordination, normative initiatives and UN Area Coordination priorities, including development of briefs, concept notes and position papers.
• Lead and coordinate Uganda Country Office engagement in intergovernmental and multi‑stakeholder processes such as CEDAW, Beijing+30, UPR, CSW and the SDGs, offering advisory input on treaty‑body mechanisms and accountability frameworks.
• Support UN Country Team reporting, normative assessments and joint accountability mechanisms, identifying opportunities for collective action at national and UNAC levels.
• Facilitate capacity‑strengthening activities for government institutions, implementing partners, civil society and UN stakeholders to enhance gender integration and implementation of gender‑responsive commitments.
• Develop and manage strategic partnerships with government, civil society, regional bodies and development partners to promote localization and implementation of international gender‑equality norms.
