Credit Officer

About the role

The Credit Officer will work full‑time on‑site in Kampala, assessing and processing credit applications while ensuring compliance with company policies. The role involves close interaction with clients and internal teams to maintain a high‑quality loan portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and process credit applications and determine creditworthiness.
• Prepare credit reports and monitor loan performance.
• Follow up on repayments and maintain accurate credit records.
• Communicate credit terms, answer client inquiries and provide guidance on suitable products.
• Collaborate with finance and operations teams to ensure risk controls and support portfolio quality.

Required profile

• Strong credit management and analysis abilities.
• Solid analytical skills and finance knowledge to interpret financial statements.
• Effective communication skills for client and stakeholder interaction.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
• Relevant academic background in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
• Prior experience in credit or lending within a financial institution (advantage).
• Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment and ability to meet deadlines in a team environment.

Required skills

• Experience using financial systems.
• Familiarity with credit management tools.
• Ability to work with reporting tools and numerical data.
