About the role
The Data Analytics & Visualization Specialist will support Uganda’s Ministry of Health through the Data‑Activated Architecture for Resilient Transition (DART) project. Based in Kampala, the specialist will turn national‑system data from the National Data Warehouse into clear, decision‑ready dashboards, reports and scorecards that monitor health system performance and service delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain interactive dashboards and visual analytics products for the Ministry of Health, district teams and DART workstreams.
- Translate validated health data into regular reports, scorecards and analytical briefs for performance monitoring and milestone verification.
- Collaborate with data engineers, cybersecurity teams and health informatics units to ensure data quality, accessibility and compliance with national standards.
- Support the rollout of electronic medical record (EMR) readiness, health information exchange (HIE) integrations and responsible AI initiatives through data‑driven insights.
- Provide training and technical guidance to government staff on interpreting and using analytics outputs.
Required profile
- University degree in Data Science, Statistics, Public Health, Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience developing analytics and visualization solutions for health or public‑sector programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work with large datasets, national data warehouses and health information systems.
- Strong communication skills to convey complex findings to non‑technical stakeholders.
Required skills
- Data analytics and statistical analysis.
- Data visualization and dashboard development (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or similar).
- Experience with relational databases and data‑warehouse concepts.
- Proficiency in data manipulation tools (e.g., SQL, Excel).
