Debt Collection Specialist – Kampala

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Debt Collection Specialist to join our fintech team in Kampala. You will be responsible for contacting clients, negotiating repayment plans and supporting the overall recovery targets.

Key responsibilities

• Contact clients via phone, SMS and WhatsApp to remind them of due or overdue payments.
• Negotiate repayment arrangements and propose tailored solutions such as refinancing or date changes.
• Record all interactions and outcomes accurately in the system.
• Escalate unresolved cases to field or legal teams as needed.
• Monitor assigned portfolio, prioritize accounts by delinquency stage and work closely with field agents and collection teams.
• Identify high‑risk accounts for early intervention and maintain documentation for audit and compliance.

Required profile

• Entry‑level experience in debt recovery, customer service or telesales is an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation abilities.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Luganda or other local languages is a plus.
• Highly organized, self‑motivated and target‑oriented.

Required skills

• Familiarity with CRM or collection software.
