Deli Assistant

About the role

The Deli Assistant is responsible for preparing high‑quality hot and cold deli products while ensuring that every customer leaves satisfied. Working in a fast‑paced fresh‑food environment, you will support the store’s brand values and help create an inviting deli experience.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare customer orders across all fresh‑food areas, including making sandwiches, rolls, serving hot dishes and slicing meats using portion‑control measures.
• Cook, assemble, and display deli items throughout the day, maintaining high standards of presentation and hygiene.
• Keep counter displays clean, well‑stocked, and visually appealing at all times.
• Share product knowledge, recipes and personal recommendations with shoppers to inspire purchases.
• Handle customer queries promptly and professionally, following store policy.
• Live the Centra brand values of being proud, energetic, imaginative and community‑focused.

Required profile

• Excellent communication skills and a customer‑service mindset.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy environment.
• Strong multitasking abilities and composure under pressure.
• A genuine passion for food and the ability to engage and inspire shoppers.

Required skills

• HACCP training (desirable but not mandatory).
