Diaspora Banking Manager

About the role

The Manager Diaspora Banking will lead the growth, profitability and strategic development of the bank’s diaspora banking portfolio. Reporting to senior management, the role is responsible for acquiring new customers, deepening relationships, designing market‑led solutions and ensuring compliance with the bank’s policies and regulatory framework.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the diaspora banking business plan, setting targets for liabilities, assets, revenue and customer acquisition.
• Drive portfolio growth by identifying market opportunities, analysing performance trends and launching innovative diaspora solutions.
• Lead acquisition, retention and relationship management of diaspora customers, cross‑selling housing, investment and other bank products.
• Oversee credit origination for the diaspora segment, ensuring pipeline quality, proper documentation and adherence to credit policies.
• Build and manage strategic partnerships and brand ambassadors to expand the bank’s diaspora footprint.
• Monitor market intelligence, competitor activity and customer trends, recommending actions to protect and grow market share.
• Manage portfolio quality by tracking repayment behaviour, early warning indicators and taking corrective actions.
• Prepare and present regular performance reports, pipeline updates and strategic recommendations to senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics or a related field; a certified banking qualification or Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in banking or financial services, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Strong analytical, critical‑thinking and problem‑solving abilities with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven understanding of consumer banking, diaspora banking products, portfolio management, pricing, business development and risk management.
• Demonstrated integrity and ability to work under pressure while building effective relationships across cultural boundaries.
