About the role
The Director of Programme Management will lead the design, delivery and evaluation of the British Council's Non‑Formal Education (NFE) portfolio in Uganda. This senior position provides strategic direction, operational leadership and business development for a mixed portfolio of internally and externally funded projects.
Key responsibilities
- Support the pursuit, design, delivery and evaluation of NFE projects, ensuring high‑quality technical input and alignment with global strategies.
- Lead the development and implementation of the NFE strategy for Uganda, coordinating with the global NFE programme and Cultural Engagement plans.
- Provide operational management and leadership to the in‑country NFE team, overseeing project delivery, impact measurement (MEL) and financial sustainability.
- Direct technical aspects of the portfolio, ensuring consistent monitoring, evaluation and learning across all programmes.
- Drive business development activities, maintaining a pipeline of high‑quality opportunities and managing strategic client and partner relationships.
- Facilitate internal capacity building, enabling staff to access learning and development resources.
Required profile
- Proven senior leadership experience in managing education or development programmes.
- Strong strategic planning and resource management capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to secure and manage funding from internal and external sources.
- Experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) processes.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership management skills.
