Education Specialist

About the role

The Education Specialist will strengthen the quality, relevance and impact of Suyana Foundation’s education programmes in Uganda. Working closely with the Uganda Country Coordinator, MEL Officer and regional managers, the specialist will support partner organisations to design, implement and continuously improve education interventions that align with national priorities and Suyana’s integrated development approach.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with local partners and schools to design education activities that address community needs.
• Provide on‑the‑ground technical support and capacity‑building for implementing partners.
• Monitor programme performance, collect data and contribute to learning reports.
• Develop proposals and funding concepts for new education initiatives.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing across Suyana’s regional programmes and with external stakeholders.
• Travel regularly to project sites in Uganda and occasionally to Rwanda for coordination and learning visits.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in education programme design, implementation or monitoring, preferably in an NGO or development context.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with partners, schools, communities and government education authorities.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with experience in MEL frameworks.
• Eligibility to work in Uganda.
