Engineering Assistant

About the role

World Vision Uganda is seeking an Engineering Assistant to support the Mountain Blue construction project in the Northern Region. Reporting to the Regional Infrastructure Engineer and program managers, you will provide technical oversight and ensure quality delivery of building and water system works.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Regional Engineer in supervising construction activities, from design and specifications to procurement and implementation.
• Coordinate with community mobilization teams to involve beneficiaries in design, operation and maintenance of infrastructure.
• Monitor compliance with district regulations, standards and procedures.
• Supervise contractors and project staff, ensuring timely progress and quality control.
• Develop monitoring tools, conduct M&E, and prepare weekly updates and monthly reports.
• Facilitate training for community operation and maintenance committees.
• Collect and manage data to measure program impact.

Required profile

• Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience supervising design and construction work for development agencies.
• Strong command of written and spoken English; knowledge of local language is an asset.
• Computer literacy.
