About the role
The Field Finance Coordinator supports day‑to‑day financial operations at the field level for Wildlife Conservation Society in Uganda. Reporting to the Country Finance Manager, the role ensures accurate accounting, sound cash management, and compliance with WCS policies, donor requirements, and national regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Process cash, bank and mobile‑money transactions, advances and reimbursements in line with WCS procedures.
- Maintain up‑to‑date accounting records, vouchers and supporting documentation.
- Manage petty cash, perform regular cash counts, reconciliations and support cash forecasting.
- Track field expenditures against approved budgets, flag overspending risks and guide correct charging codes.
- Provide financial information to field management for operational decisions.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, donor requirements and national regulations.
- Prepare documentation for internal and external audits and implement audit recommendations.
- Act as the primary finance liaison between field teams and the capital‑based finance team.
Required profile
- Mid‑level finance professional with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, cash handling and budgeting.
- Experience working in a non‑profit or conservation environment is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently in a remote field setting and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
