Finance Specialist

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council in Uganda is seeking a senior‑level Finance Specialist to ensure sound financial management and compliance with donor and statutory requirements. You will work closely with the Finance Manager and project teams to support accurate reporting, budget control, and strategic financial planning.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with DRC Operations Handbook, donor regulations and statutory requirements.
• Collaborate with area and project managers to develop, review and revise project budgets.
• Provide financial oversight, analyse variances and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare and update monthly Budget Follow‑Up reports and participate in review meetings.
• Validate payment requests, verify supporting documentation and ensure proper coding.
• Assist in cash‑flow forecasting, funding requests and monitor cash availability.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end closing activities, including reconciliations and adjustments.
• Review and reconcile balance‑sheet accounts, investigating and resolving open items.

Required profile

• Senior‑level finance professional with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of donor regulations, NGO financial policies and statutory compliance.
• Proven ability to work with project managers on budgeting and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
