Fitness Instructor – US Navy Program (Diego Garcia)

About the role

We are looking for a Fitness Instructor to join Amentum’s US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves delivering group exercise classes, supporting patrons in the MWR fitness facilities, and promoting health and wellness in a safe, welcoming environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct group fitness classes using safe and effective exercise techniques.
• Motivate participants of varying fitness levels and create an inclusive atmosphere.
• Assist patrons with equipment orientation and proper exercise form.
• Promote health, wellness, and physical fitness through organized programs and activities.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe fitness areas.
• Monitor equipment, report maintenance needs, and enforce facility policies.
• Provide outstanding customer service, answering questions and resolving concerns.
• Select appropriate music and develop engaging class routines.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide CPR/AED assistance when required.
• Support special events, fitness challenges, and recreational programs as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of related fitness, recreation, or wellness experience (preferred).
• At least one year of group fitness instruction experience (preferred).
• Current fitness instructor certification from a recognized organization.
• Current CPR and AED certification (American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent).
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining validity and ability to obtain required visas.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance.
