Funded Traineeship in Political Press & Information (Uganda)

About the role

The EU Delegation to Uganda offers a funded traineeship for recent graduates interested in international relations and diplomatic work. The position is based in the Political Press and Information Section and runs for up to six months, starting tentatively on 1 November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth research on EU‑Uganda cooperation and political developments.
• Assist in drafting analytical reports, briefings and other written products.
• Support data coordination by consolidating inputs from EU Member States under supervision.
• Help organise and support events, meetings and youth‑engagement activities.
• Attend meetings, take notes and prepare comprehensive reports.
• Contribute to communication and visibility activities, including social‑media content.
• Maintain and organise archival records related to EU‑Uganda cooperation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in political science, social science, economics, communications, history or a related field.
• Less than one year of professional experience after graduation.
• Current residence in Uganda.
• Very good spoken and written English.
• Strong initiative, research, writing and analytical abilities.
• Interest in international relations, development cooperation and the EU’s work in Uganda.
• Knowledge of Uganda’s institutional context is an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
